Located on the NSW-QLD Border, Barringun is a small town that has an interesting history as it used to be one of the border crossing checkpoint locations, prior to federation. ¹

Straddling both sides of the border, the town once featured bonded warehouses, banks, courthouse, school, hotels and shops. The town was also once a stopover point for shearers, drovers, mail carriers, swagmen, labourers, adventurers and Cobb & Co coaches. These days the towns moves at a much slower pace, with the roadhouse and caravan park the offering accommodation, fuel and food. ¹
