Boorowa
Located on the New South Wales Southwest Slopes and established in 1843, Boorowa is a small and picturesque rural town on the lands once occupied by the Wiradjuri Nation with the Gandangara Aboriginal Australians. The town name was originally Burrowa and is derived from the local Aboriginal language and refers to a native bird, the plains turkey Australian bustard.
The area has a long history of farming, but in areas surrounding the town, there has been some past mining activities including gold, copper and iron extraction. The town also dissected by the Boorowa River.
In 1914 a railway branch line linked the town the Main Southern Railway line. This line closed in the late 1980s.
