Development of Palmerston began in 1980 due to the fast growing population Darwin was experiencing at the time. In 1982, Palmerston welcomed it's first residents, then in 1984, the Coles shopping centre was completed, with the area experiencing rapid growth since. ¹

Palmerston is the second largest city in the Northern Territory, with the city's population made up of young families, defence workers and is home to many small businesses. Palmerston hosts two water parks, numerous sporting grounds, 18-hole golf course, a large shopping centre, restaurants, and a large industrial area. ¹
