Port Noarlunga, part of the City of Onkaparinga, is a seaside suburb originally developed as a port. Today, it's a popular spot for holidaymakers and locals who commute to Adelaide or work nearby. The suburb is known for its jetty and 1.6 km natural reef, a favourite among snorkellers and underwater photographers. It's bordered by the Onkaparinga River to the south, Gulf St Vincent to the west, and neighbouring suburbs Christies Beach and Noarlunga Centre.

Traditionally known as 'Tainbarang' or 'Tainbarilla' by the Kaurna people, the area holds cultural significance for the Tjilbruke Dreaming, with Tutu Wirra Reserve on Witton Bluff marking the second spring created by Tjilbruke on his journey down the coast.

European history began with Captain Collet Barker's 1831 exploration of the Onkaparinga River. A whaling station was set up in 1841, and the town was surveyed in 1859 to support nearby agricultural areas. The current jetty, built in 1921, replaced an earlier structure destroyed by storms. By the early 1900s, Port Noarlunga was a thriving holiday spot with river boating and seaside amusements. Urban expansion in the 1960s and 1970s saw the town absorbed into Adelaide's growing southern suburbs.
