Located in the Torrens Valley, Gumeracha is a small town settled by Europeans in 1839 and is set in rolling hills, with the town is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, orchards and farmland. The Peramangk people reguarly used a nearby perpetual waterhole, and referred to the area as "Umeracha", meaning watering place.

Attractions and facilities include several historic buildings, the Big Rocking Horse, a number of wineries, and the Applewood Distillery, Australia's highest altitude distillery.

The Big Rocking Horse:
