Kadina
Located on the Yorke Peninsula, Kadina is the largest town in the Copper Coast region and is the main commercial centre for the region. The town is surrounded by agricultural land, however Kadina used to be a mining town. Copper was discovered at Wallaroo Mines in 1859 and adjacent land north east of the site was surveyed in 1861 to house miners and became the Government Town of Kadina. There are numerous tourist attractions in the town as well, including the Farm Shed Heritage Museum, the Kadina Art Trail, Victoria Square with its large playground, the Walk in the Trees and the Apex Express train, plus a full calendar of events including regular markets.
The Narungga are the group of Indigenous Australians whose traditional lands include the Yorke Peninsula. The town name is thought to be derived from Kadiyinya, a Narungga word meaning Lizard Plain.

NEW Kadina Soldiers Memorial Arch:
Located in Victoria Square, the Soldiers' Memorial was originally erected to commemorate those from the district who died in service or were killed in action in World War One. It now also commemorates those who served in World War Two and Post World War Two conflicts.
